College of Natural Health and Homeopathy repays funds after self-identifying issues
The College of Natural Health and Homeopathy (CNHH) has repaid $420,426 (GST exclusive) to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) after they discovered they had been making incorrect funding claims to the TEC.
The College of Natural Health and Homeopathy (CNHH) has repaid $420,426 (GST exclusive) to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) after they discovered they had been making incorrect funding claims to the TEC.
These findings were uncovered ahead of the TEC’s scheduled audit, which found some additional areas that required review. A more in-depth investigation was then commissioned by the TEC.
“We acknowledge that CNHH raised these issues proactively and were quick and transparent in reporting them to us once discovered. Their cooperation meant the TEC audit and investigation was a smooth process,” says TEC’s Chief Executive Tim Fowler.
The investigation looked at all TEC-funded courses the Bay of Plenty College of Homeopathy (trading as CNHH) delivered from 2010-2015, which included the Diploma of Homeopathy (Level 7) and Diploma in Homeopathy (Animal Health) (Level 7).
The main findings of the investigation, published on the TEC website today, show some funding provided to CNHH was used for a sub-contracting arrangement that wasn’t approved by the TEC. It also found some enrolment dates/course completion records and reporting on teaching hours were not accurately submitted.
“The TEC invests approximately $2.9 billion in tertiary education every year. We have high expectations of the organisations we fund and regularly monitor their performance,” says Mr Fowler.
The investigation into CNHH is now complete.
