- Chancellor or council Chair writes to the Minister on behalf of the council setting out the amendment required and the reasons for it
- The Minister refers the amendment to the TEC for advice about whether it complies with the legislative requirements; the Minister may also want to know whether the proposed amendment is aligned with good governance
- If the TEC and/or the Minister has any queries, the TEC will contact the Chancellor or council Chair and this may extend the timeline
- The TEC provides advice to the Minister; assuming all is well, the draft constitution will be included for the Minister to approve (and in the form to be published in the Gazette) together with a draft letter to the Chancellor or council Chair
- Once the Minister provides approval the TEC arranges publication of the amended constitution in the Gazette; this process of electronic publishing by the Gazette takes only a few days
- The TEC send the link to the Gazette notice to the Chancellor or council Chair
